Colin Woodard is the author of The Republic of Pirates. Since it was published it’s become one of the most respected scholarly works on the Golden Age of Pirates. His thoroughly researched book is the influence behind the NBC TV show “Crossbones” and the video game “Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag”
In our talk, Colin digs into his motivations for writing the book and how technology made it possible for him to do research that wasn’t available before.
We also chat about how it connects to his other books on American culture and how those Golden Age pirates influenced America.
