UTC 150 Dave MacArthur of Pirate Radio of the Treasure Coast

Dave MacArthur of Pirate Radio of the Treasure Coast

Dave MacArthur is the owner of Pirate Radio of the Treasure Coast.  Good chance you’re listening to the show on there or have heard me yack about them for 100+ episodes due to their generous sponsorship of the show.

And now we’ll dig into the mysteries of PROTC with the man himself!  We talk about how he got connected to the pirate community and how he got his start in radio.  And we talk a lot about the radio and music businesses.  Some great behind the scenes stuff here.

UTC 146 Che Prasad and John Howard of Shark Alley Hobos

Shark Alley HobosThe Shark Alley Hobos are a sea shanty pirate band from Northern California and on today’s show we’ll talk with guitarists and singers Che Prasad and John Howard.

We dig into the show that inspired them to turn from rock music to sea shanties and how they developed their sound from there.  We go deep into crowd work at gigs and how they decided to cover a Prince song.  And they also tell us about the event that inspired their latest single “A Hobo’s Life For Me”.

Under The Crossbones is a podcast all about pirate culture.  Your host Phil Johnson (comedian, musician, and pirate geek) interviews the most interesting people in the pirate subculture: Actors, Authors, Historians, Musicians, Artists, Festival Founders, Clothing and Prop Designers, Treasure Hunters, Archaeologists, and more.

UTC 142 Robin Flanagan of Crimson Pirates and Chris Leidenfrost of The Greatest Pirate Story Never Told

Robin Flanagan and Chris Leidenfrost

We’ve been doing a lot with the arts recently and I love it!  On today’s show we have Robin Flanagan from Crimson Pirates and Chris Leidenfrost of The Greatest Pirate Story Never Told.

We’ll dig into how to Crimson Pirates sort of accidentally came to be.  And after Chris joined, how he went into spin-off mode with The Greatest Pirate Story Never Told.

Lots of music, improv, and arts management talk in this one.  Super fun!

(Side note… Sorry about the little bits of audio weirdness in this episode.  Not sure what happened, but I tried to even everything out as much as possible.)
