Shanna Lovette is the leader and songwriter of Tea and Strumpets.  They’re a relatively new group, but rising fast on the Pirate and Ren Faire scenes.

Somewhere between vocal group and musical theater, they’ve got a load of great original bawdy songs and choreography.  We dig into why Shanna got the group together and how demand for their show has picked up.

Heads up… This episode, by nature, has a little bawdy talk in it.  If you’ve got kids with you, maybe listen later.  Or be prepared to discuss. 🙂

Under The Crossbones is a podcast all about pirate culture.  Your host Phil Johnson (comedian, musician, and pirate geek) interviews the most interesting people in the pirate subculture: Actors, Authors, Historians, Musicians, Artists, Festival Founders, Clothing and Prop Designers, Treasure Hunters, Archaeologists, and more.

I was fortunate to catch Penny Opry’s set at this year’s Nor Cal Pirate Festival and I think you’ll dig them too.

We got together at Joan’s place for a great talk about some of their European adventures and what their new album “Alluvium” has to offer.  Even a little sneak peek on the album after that!  And we dig down into some of the trenches of accordion playing and Rosie’s unique drum kit.
