UTC 111 Sean Loughman of Pirates Treasure Museum

Sean Loughman of Pirates Treasure Museum

Sean Loughman is a partner and curator at the Pirates Treasure Museum in St Thomas, Virgin Islands.  The museum has loads of great shipwreck artifacts, pirate items, and Sean’s specialty… coins.  Lots and lots of coins.

During our talk we dig into lesser known but interesting pirates Jean Hamlin and Bartholomew Sharpe.  Sean tells a great story about a controversial scandal around Spanish pieces of eight.  And he tells us about the new shipwreck project he’s working on that they’re pretty darn sure is a legit pirate ship.  Exciting stories in this one!

And after the interview I’ll give you an update on Sean’s and the museum’s current situation post-hurricanes.

UTC 110 Nick Tyler aka Captain Pigheart

Nick Tyler aka Captain PigheartNick Tyler is a pirate fan, Lego nut, writer, and comedian out of Nottingham, England.  And his Captain Pigheart stories are a treat for any (adult) pirate fan.  Not for the kiddies.  But absolutely hilarious.

You may not be familiar with Nick’s work even if you’re pretty tapped into the pirate scene. So I’m happy to bring you something new and cool today.

We go everywhere in this conversation: pirates, comedy, writing techniques, Lego, Transformers… This one’s a thousand miles wide. 🙂  As it should be with someone who’s got his fingers in so many pies.

You’ll also hear about my patience being tested on a flight (and mostly wait) to Seattle and the tale of drunken heckler in Vancouver.

UTC 109 Steve Boehm of Pirates For Sail

Steve Boehm of Pirates For SailSteve Boehm is the captain and “adult” of the band Pirates For Sail. (Puns!)  We dig into the group’s inner workings to see how they came about and got that super lush harmony sound they’re so good at.

We’ll also hear a song from their new album “Crabby Road” that will be released Sept 22, 2017.  Look for it!

And I’ll tell you all about my misadventures at the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas and how you can help friend of the show Michael Noles get back on his feet after getting hit bad by Hurricane Irma.
