Sean Loughman is a partner and curator at the Pirates Treasure Museum in St Thomas, Virgin Islands. The museum has loads of great shipwreck artifacts, pirate items, and Sean’s specialty… coins. Lots and lots of coins.
During our talk we dig into lesser known but interesting pirates Jean Hamlin and Bartholomew Sharpe. Sean tells a great story about a controversial scandal around Spanish pieces of eight. And he tells us about the new shipwreck project he’s working on that they’re pretty darn sure is a legit pirate ship. Exciting stories in this one!
And after the interview I’ll give you an update on Sean’s and the museum’s current situation post-hurricanes.
