Treasure Hunter Carl Fismer
Carl Fismer lives the life of an adventurer. The type of life that they make books and movies about. “Fizz” is a renowned treasure hunter that has dived some of the world’s most famous shipwrecks including the Atocha and the 1715 and 1733 Spanish treasure fleets.

And in this talk, tales of peril, dangerous people, and daring escapes. And popcorn. Carl is like an underwater Indiana Jones (thankfully minus Shia Laboeuf.)

He spoke with me on a special device that works with his hearing aids, so the audio is a little sketchy. But think of it as listening to a radio transmission from the past full of of adventure stories of hunting for pirate treasure on and under the high seas. 🙂

Captain Dan Dolan of the Scurvy Crew

Dan Dolan heads up Captain Dan and The Scurvy Crew, the world’s best/only pirate rap group.

We dig into how the group got started on a lark and faced growing pains in the pirate community. All of it leading up to their final showdown with three hungry TV reality show judges. It’s quite a story.

Then, in the aftermath, we find out what’s happening with The Scurvy Crew now as well as Dan’s geek rock outfit Sci Fried.

And of course we’ll hear some music from the Scurvy Crew. “Broadside”, one of their biggest hits.

Pirate Artist Michael Noles

Michael Noles spent decades as a Senior Creative Director for the Walt Disney Company. And now he creates fantastic pieces of pirate art that capture the unseen moments of shipboard life.

We dig into plenty of good Disney stuff here for fans of that stuff (like me..) And we talk about where Michael’s very dense style comes from and how he’s made art his life since attending Ringling.

Wanna hear something from the new Ye Banished Privateers album First Night Back In Port? I got ya covered with the song “Cooper’s Rum”.

UPDATE: Michael and Roxanne were hit pretty hard in Hurricane Irma. A huge oak tree slammed into their house and did a great deal of destruction to their house and Michael’s studio. They’re currently camped out in a hotel and could use some help. If you’ve got a few bucks to send their way, they’ve got a Go Fund Me page here.
