Allen Balogh is the author of the book “Black Sail 1715” about the wreck and plundering of the 1715 Spanish Treasure Fleet off the coast of Florida. If you’re wondering, it’s both connected and not connected to the TV show Black Sails. Mostly not. But a little bit yes. 🙂
Allen gives us a great in depth view of the 1715 fleet’s wreck and the pirate plundering that went on around it. Plenty of names you’ll recognize as this is smack in the middle of the Golden Age of Piracy.
We’ll also learn about the present status of the wreck site and the amazing amount of plunder still down there.
Allen’s book is a fantastic historical fiction retelling of the experience that humanizes the dates and places to create a really alive historical experience.
