UTC 028 – Wreck Diver John Chatterton – Part 2

John Chatterton Part 2This is part 2 of my interview with wreck diver John Chatterton.  Part 1 is here.  He’s the subject of the books “Pirate Hunters” and “Shadow Hunters” by Robert Kurson.  In this part of the interview we get into Titanic (literally and figuratively) and he drops some really amazing facts about the wreck we all think we know so well.

Plus comedy from Irene Tu about working in a book store in 2016. It ties in nicely with today’s interview.  And a song called “The Epic” by Monkey.  Monkey are themselves quite epic.  If you’re not familiar with them, don’t miss out.  Heck of a live show.  Check out a little piece of it below.

UTC 027 – Wreck Diver John Chatterton – Part 1

John Chatterton Part 1I could NOT wipe the smile from my face during this interview!  John Chatterton is a wreck diver and treasure hunter.  He’s been to Titanic, the Andrea Doria, and discovered a German U-Boat wreck.  But most importantly for this show, he was on the team that found the Golden Fleece, a pirate ship helmed by captain Joseph Bannister.

This is Part 1 of my interview with John Chatterton.  He had so many great stories that I had to split it into two episodes.  Stay tuned next week for Part 2 where you’ll hear some mind-blowing information about his visit to Titanic.  (No they didn’t find the door that Kate Winslet threw Dicaprio off of…)

Also in this episode, comedy from Steve McGowan about Chuck E. Cheese and a song called “Mislead” by The Cautious.

UTC 016 – Chris Macort of the Whydah Pirate Museum

Chris Macort Whydah Pirate MuseumChris Macort is the curator of the Whydah Pirate Museum in Provincetown, MA.  He’s also a wreck diver and treasure hunter who’d helped excavate the Whydah and protect the artifacts they’ve brought up.

The Whydah is the first positively ID’d pirate ship to be found.  It was Sam Bellamy’s ship that went down in 1717 in a huge storm off the coast of Cape Cod.  Barry Clifford found the ship in 1984 and Chris Macort joined the team a few years later.

We go deep on conservation techniques for the different types of items brought back to the surface.  And you’ll love hearing about the first time Chris held real pirate treasure in his hands.  Really great interview with some mind-blowing news about his current project.  You’re going to do dig this one.

Also on the show today, comedy from Mike Brody and Roem Baur’s new single “Oh Dear”.
