UTC 118 Corey Lefkowitz of Age of Discovery Productions

Corey Lefkowitz of Age of Discovery ProductionsCorey Lefkowitz is the owner and captain of Age of Discovery Productions and Pirates of the Silver Realm.  He’s built a great business with his crew at pirate festivals, educating the public on life as a pirate.

His newest ventures include birds of the “polly want a cracker” sort and expanding the types of venues he’s working in.  This is a really fun talk that goes from how to expand a business to how to load a trailer correctly to get over the Sierra mountains without overheating.

Under The Crossbones is a podcast all about pirate culture.  Your host Phil Johnson (comedian, musician, and pirate geek) interviews the most interesting people in the pirate subculture: Actors, Authors, Historians, Musicians, Artists, Festival Founders, Clothing and Prop Designers, Treasure Hunters, Archaeologists, and more.

UTC 115 Jeff Hartt and Gertie Stubbs of Buccaneers of the Black Fleet

Jeff Hartt and Gertie Stubbs of Buccaneers of the Black FleetJeff Hartt and Gertie Stubbs head up the Buccaneers of the Black Fleet in Vancouver, Canada.  I was lucky enough to visit with them for a talk while I was up there recently.

We dig into their varied projects in camps, family entertainment and more.  And they give us a great overview of the pirate scene in Vancouver, the Pacific Northwest, and Canada at large.

We recorded in a nice little cafe in New Westminster. So there’s loads of… we’ll call it “atmosphere”… in the background.  You’ll feel like you’re right there with us! 😉

Heads up!  I’m coming to Orlando, FL Nov 3-4, 2017 to do two comedy shows!  Click here to get $10 tickets.

UTC 111 Sean Loughman of Pirates Treasure Museum

Sean Loughman of Pirates Treasure Museum

Sean Loughman is a partner and curator at the Pirates Treasure Museum in St Thomas, Virgin Islands.  The museum has loads of great shipwreck artifacts, pirate items, and Sean’s specialty… coins.  Lots and lots of coins.

During our talk we dig into lesser known but interesting pirates Jean Hamlin and Bartholomew Sharpe.  Sean tells a great story about a controversial scandal around Spanish pieces of eight.  And he tells us about the new shipwreck project he’s working on that they’re pretty darn sure is a legit pirate ship.  Exciting stories in this one!

And after the interview I’ll give you an update on Sean’s and the museum’s current situation post-hurricanes.
