Jeff Hartt and Gertie Stubbs of Buccaneers of the Black Fleet Jeff Hartt and Gertie Stubbs head up the Buccaneers of the Black Fleet in Vancouver, Canada. I was lucky enough to visit with them for a talk while I was up there recently.

We dig into their varied projects in camps, family entertainment and more. And they give us a great overview of the pirate scene in Vancouver, the Pacific Northwest, and Canada at large.

We recorded in a nice little cafe in New Westminster. So there’s loads of… we’ll call it “atmosphere”… in the background. You’ll feel like you’re right there with us! 😉

Heads up! I’m coming to Orlando, FL Nov 3-4, 2017 to do two comedy shows! Click here to get $10 tickets.

Today’s show is sponsored by:

Todd Willis of The Loose Cannon Company
Todd Willis grew up as a pirate. Or at least that’s what his mom told him. And he took it to heart. Now he’s a re-enactor and leader of the popular east coast pirate entertainment group The Loose Cannon Company.

We talk about how he got there, how he wrangles a disparate group of pirates into a cohesive whole, and how to raise your kids as responsible pirates when you’re dressing them up as criminals. And lots of great info about the pirate scene and fest in Beaufort, NC.

Plus why it’s called The Loose Cannon Company, birthday food, Spotify lameness, my new single (listen to it below), and the proverbial “more”!

Here’s my new single. It’s an update on the 1980’s hard rock of my youth with a more modern mindset.I Wanna Rock (Socially Responsibly) by Phil Johnson and Roadside Attraction

Neil Massey Bladesmith at Rogue Steel

Neil Massey is the owner of Rogue Steel where he is a bladesmith, creating custom swords and other pointy things for stage and screen use. We’ll dig into his process (since I know nothing about making swords) and he’ll tell us how he got into fight choreography and bladesmithing.

We have some good laughs along the way and talk about the custom weapon requests he’s gotten. And yes, he does get dirty. Not that way. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Plus comedy from Priyanka Wali, who’s a doctor (a real one!) and a very smart comic.

Today’s show is sponsored by:

Pirates on the Prairie VI – A great concert on Feb 11, 2017 at the Uptown Theater in Grand Prairie, Texas featuring The Bilge Pumps, Pride of Bedlam and Seadog Slam. Click here to get tickets.
