Captain Dan Dolan of the Scurvy Crew

Dan Dolan heads up Captain Dan and The Scurvy Crew, the world’s best/only pirate rap group.

We dig into how the group got started on a lark and faced growing pains in the pirate community. All of it leading up to their final showdown with three hungry TV reality show judges. It’s quite a story.

Then, in the aftermath, we find out what’s happening with The Scurvy Crew now as well as Dan’s geek rock outfit Sci Fried.

And of course we’ll hear some music from the Scurvy Crew. “Broadside”, one of their biggest hits.

Michael Noles spent decades as a Senior Creative Director for the Walt Disney Company. And now he creates fantastic pieces of pirate art that capture the unseen moments of shipboard life.

We dig into plenty of good Disney stuff here for fans of that stuff (like me..) And we talk about where Michael’s very dense style comes from and how he’s made art his life since attending Ringling.

UPDATE: Michael and Roxanne were hit pretty hard in Hurricane Irma. A huge oak tree slammed into their house and did a great deal of destruction to their house and Michael’s studio. David Magee Screenwriter of Finding Neverland

David Magee is the screenwriter of the fantastic movies Finding Neverland and Life of Pi. He’s also working on the new Mary Poppins and Narnia films.

I’m a nut for anything Peter Pan/Captain Hook related, so this talk with David is really fun. We get into J.M. Barrie’s life during the creation of Peter Pan and how David did his research. We talk plenty of Captain Hook and how he fits into the story of both Peter Pan and Barrie’s life.

And we had to talk some Life of Pi too! It was a notoriously difficult book to adapt until David and Ang Lee got their hands on it. We’ll dip our toes into Mary Poppins and Narnia too.
