UTC056 Matt Aurthur of Pirate History Podcast Matt Aurthur is the host of Pirate History Podcast, and much like Craig Buddy back in ep. 22, is doing a great job telling the historical stories of the pirates before, during, and after the Golden Age.

We’ll get into Matt’s motivations for starting the show, how his background in acting has helped, and some stumbles along the way.

Will there be a Matt/Craig/Phil collaboration in the future? We’re sure going to work on it. 🙂

Plus comedy from the Ibo Brewer and a great song from Ulrich Ellison called “Rescue Me”.

Pick up some more music from Ulrich Ellison below and help support UTC at the same time. 🙂

Ye Banished Privateers

Ye Banished Privateers is one of the hottest pirate bands in Europe and one of my personal faves. Our first interview attempt resulted in some unfortunate sound problems. But here in our second attempt, the gods of technology smiled upon us I had a great talk with somewhere between 4 and 87 members of the band.

We’ll dig into the band’s origin story, the crazy way they’re recording their new album, and the pros and cons of having 30 (not kidding) people in a band.

Plus comedy from the always dangerous Dougie Almeida and <drum roll> a world premier song from Ye Banished Privateers new album called “First Night Back In Port”!

Heads up, the song may have a few naughty words in it. After all, they are pirates on their first night back in port.

Pick up the first two Ye Banished Privateers albums through the links below and support UTC at the same time! (You are such a good person.)

UTC 054 Joe Neate and Mike Chapman Sea of Thieves

Joe Neate and Mike Chapman of Rare Games sit down with us to talk about their new pirate game Sea of Thieves. How’s it different from the average pirate video game? What’s gone into make this game both exciting and historically interesting? And when I ask them what they haven’t been able to make a game do yet, you’ll be surprised at the answer.

I’m not much of a video game guy (and they challenge me on that), but this does look like a pretty intriguing game. Certainly something any pirate fan would be happy to give a go.

They’ve also started their own video podcast following the development of Sea of Thieves that you can see below.
