Dr E. Lee Spence is an underwater archaeologist and one of the first people to get a university degree for that work. Â He’s found hundreds of shipwrecks since finding his first in 1959 at age 12 with homegrown dive gear.
His most famous discoveries are the Hunley and the Georgiana. We discuss both. Â Of course plenty of piratey goodness too.
And it wouldn’t be a diver episode without some near death experience type stories. Â Lee has a couple doozies to tell us here.
Don’t forget to check out the bonus content in the player below. We go way off the beaten path and talk about who the real Rhett Butler is from Gone With The Wind. Â It’s an interesting story and only about 9 minutes long.
